Day Twenty-Four - Trusting the Mystery

Through these days, the up and down days, I am beginning to gain more understanding of the reality that I will not, this side of heaven, understand fully the ways of Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Their ways are mystery.
Mystery
shrouded
from
earthly
eyes.

Here are several quote's from Steven James' book, "Sailing Between the Stars."
"…we’re busy trying to make Jesus seem reasonable, sensible, and practical. But He’s not. He’s radical, paradoxical, and absurd.
And that’s one of the reasons He’s so attractive to me.
That’s one of the reasons I believe."
"In the crazy world of Christianity, those who think themselves wise are really fools in disguise, while those who know they’re fools become our greatest prophets and teachers. Those who are the most aware of their sins are our greatest saints; while those who think they’re not really all that bad (at least not compared to most people) are the greatest sinners. Those who think they’re humble are proud, but those who know they’re proud are humble. Those who believe themselves to be free are the most enchained; those who see their chains are finally free.

As long as I think I can see, I’m blind. And only when I’m brave enough to admit that I’m beyond all hope, does hope come crashing in and cleanse my heart. We’re told to set our eyes on what we cannot see, accept a peace that’s beyond understanding, know a love that surpasses knowledge, and cling to the certainty of what we cannot prove."

Steven shares with realness about the mysteries of God in "Sailing Between the Stars" and each time I am drawn to pick his book back up, I am entranced. I am inspired. I feel as though I can be brave enough to sail between the stars...where God is.

I will accept their mysterious ways,
though I do not understand them.
Where else can I go?
I am taken by a God of mystery.
I am wooed by Him.
I find myself following,
intrigued by His mystery.
I am befuddled by His mystery
yet, I long to be close to Him,
though I don't fathom all I long to
understand about His ways,
His infinite love for oh so human me...

St. Paul asked that those he knew would pray that he would be able to proclaim the mysteries of Christ.

It was for this, that Paul was bound in chains. I don't get it. God does.

(Colossians 4:3) Paul was to present to all, the word of God in it's fulness-- the mystery that has been kept hidden for ages and generations, but is now disclosed to the saints.
To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles, the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. (Colossians 1:25 - 27)

Paul said, My purpose is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ. (Colossians 2:2)

Christ in Me, the hope of glory...

Christ in YOU, the hope of glory...

I'm trusting the mystery...

I will end with one more quote from Steven James. "The kingdom of God is the kingdom of fools and children looking up into the eyes of an invisible Daddy."

I think I'll go read some from Sailing Between the Stars...

Colossians 2:2 The Message (MSG)

2-4I want you woven into a tapestry of love, in touch with everything there is to know of God. Then you will have minds confident and at rest, focused on Christ, God's great mystery. All the richest treasures of wisdom and knowledge are embedded in that mystery and nowhere else. And we've been shown the mystery! I'm telling you this because I don't want anyone leading you off on some wild-goose chase, after other so-called mysteries, or "the Secret."

Well, I started writing this on Wednesday, but due to technical difficulties, published it on Thursday... all's grace? I'm learning to trust and have faith in the mystery...the mystery that is Christ in us, the hope of glory.
