Muted to Vivid

You paint muted joy

across my skies.

Pastel colors awash

in nature’s glory,

birthed by God’s

breath

and as I gaze

beyond the horizon,

Free birds fly

With such panache

and a subtle flair...

Heart soars

with wings

dreaming

of days ahead

when feet won’t

touch this earth

and vivid colors

cause heaven's

cheeks to blush

with joy,

fully expressed,

which will find us

laughing out loud…

Life is a crazy adventure!

I just wrote a long post about flying high above the storms of life....
About walking through this life alone
and longing for a companion to
share the sunny days
and the stormy ones.

I lost the draft, so ummm at this point I'll post the photo above and just
say, don't let the ups and downs of life get to you! Fly ABOVE them!

As I recently flew through the clouds in Costa Rica in a Cessna, it was very bumpy!

So, I recommend flying above the clouds!
In the strength of our God
we can fly higher
than the clouds!

Emerging

Now emerging from chilled winter years
through purging, heartbreak & many tears.
Pressed and treaded heavily upon
made sweet for tasting and sipping on.
Like the best grapes from God’s winery.

I’m purified in like gold in God’s refinery.
His fire burns until he sees perfection
within my heart He sees His reflection.
Now made pure and pliable,
yielded to his will
Knowing He’s reliable,
upon His chest, I’m still.
Emptied of all that would weigh down
Laying before him every crown.
Finding God is more and I am less.
I’m festooned with spring’s ceremonial dress...
Decreasing are remembrances of all things past
Brilliant colors replace black & white’s contrast.
Releasing the memory of death’s mortal sting
Budding and growing, anticipating spring!

Winter's Slumber

Winter's slumber weighs heavy on my spirit,
Like rain, frozen on fragile branches,
nearly touching cold earth.

May warmth from the Son
cause spiritual icicles to melt,
like drops of grace,
like new mercies

every morning...

So thirsty, mouth and lips are dry,
Cracked, like miles of desert lands.
Only You can cause clouds to form
Bring drenching desert storm
To deeply satisfy thirsty sands.

Equilibrium’s been pulled by a strange gravity
That seems to be surely from this earth...
Would you equalize me?
Only in You sweet balance returns.
Spiritual symmetry.

This heart, you made has songs deep within
she longs to share in harmonious blending
of lives giving & receiving in love’s pleasure unending
Bringing glory to Father, Son and Spirit--
Until He comes to gather his bride
And take her to the place
He’s prepared for them
To love, forever.

"For behold, the winter is past,

The rain is over and gone.
12 ‘The flowers have already appeared in the land;
The time has arrived for pruning the vines,
And the voice of the turtledove has been heard in our land.
13 ‘The fig tree has ripened its figs,
And the vines in blossom have given forth their fragrance.
Arise, my darling, my beautiful one,
And come along"

Song of Solomon 2:11-13

Longing for Spring...again.
Every cold Winter, I ache for Spring....
I'm made to long for Spring.

Kiss the World with Spring!

Winter sleeps in icy bliss
While we pray the sun will kiss
the world with spring again.
Shivering under the moons dim light
We beseech the sun, “End the night!”
But, the watchful eye of the sun could see
The preparation and growing
that winter would bring.
There is dying that is needed
Before the ground can be seeded
And new life can begin to grow.
Buds and blossoms raise their lovely heads
Stretching and emerging from winter beds.
The air is filled with joyous sound.
An orchestra of birds and bees has found
that winter’s chill didn’t last forever!
Trees stretch their limbs
And shake off winter’s clothes
Dancing like children
as a warmer breeze blows.
The sun smiles and the sky grows blue
And again the world is new!
Icicles slowing melting
Dripping on the ground.
Just another proof that spring has been found!
Our hearts take on a new life of their own
as the freshness of spring is newly known.

Allowing Him to Grasp Us

The part we play in knowing God
is a song, composed mainly
of us allowing Him
to grasp us…
To take hold of us,
of our hearts
and firmly hold
us there
in a close embrace--
Our ears listening
to His heartbeat;
slowly but surely
our heart beats
in unison
with His
& we begin
to hear like His ears hear
to speak like His voice speaks
to touch like His hands touch
to love like His heart loves
to die to self like He died for us

Inspired by Rainier Maria Rilke
"When I saw others straining toward God,
I did not understand it,
for though I may have had
him less than they did,
there was no one blocking
the way between him and me,
and I could reach his heart easily.
It is up to him, after all, to have us.
our part consists of almost solely
in letting him grasp us."
