Day Thirty-Five - Light

Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack in everything
That's how the light gets in.

Leonard Cohen - Anthem

Light. It causes darkness to leave. If light is present, then darkness can't share the same space. I don't know about you, but especially when it's so dark that I can't see what's right in front of my face, it's comforting to know that light dispels darkness.
A candle, a match, a flashlight,
campfire, halogen bulb or
The Light of the World,
all dispel darkness!

The Light of the World, Jesus,
is the only light that fully,
permanently and forever will dispel darkness!

Jesus desires for us to walk in His light and not in darkness. Why would we want to walk in darkness anyway?

Light in His Word

God said, let there be light.
It shined, brilliantly.
The sun rules day, the moon the night,
and stars give light upon the earth.

By day the LORD went ahead of them
in a pillar of cloud
to guide them on their way
and by night in a pillar of fire
to give them light, so that they could travel by day or night.

God said, my son will be the light
of the world, He'll shine liberally.
You'll never need to walk in darkness
again for you have the light of life!

In His light, we see light,
His Word is a lamp unto our feet
that shines on our path.

Jesus' face shone like the sun
and his clothes were as white as the light.

There will come a day when we'll
not need the sun or a lamp to see our way
for the Lord God will be our everlasting light.

For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness,
shined in our hearts,
to give the light of the knowledge
of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

If we walk in the light
as He is in the Light,
we have fellowship with each other
and the blood of Jesus purifies us
from all sin.
